When a car accident wrecks a car’s frame, many parts start to have problems. If the foundational frame is bent, nothing is really where it is supposed to be or working at the right angles and such that it should be at, and it gets expensive! I noticed that sometimes when something is problematic for me, I caused the problem. Other times, it’s like stumbling into a hole in the ground: I partially caused it with my lack of attention, and a problem in the environment contributed. In fact, it may have been all my problem, and the hole working as the universe’s function to remind me to pay better attention to my surroundings! Other times, we stumble upon problems in the framework of existence: it could be something off in our homes, workplaces, communities, species as a whole! We realize, we don’t fit in this situation not because we are flawed, but that whole is flawed. That structure is broken, and our not fitting helps bring needed attention to that before it gets too expensive for humanity to afford. Unfortunately, it may already be that bad for us now as a species. It may be too broken to fix. We can’t buy our way out of the damage we have done to the structure of our planet: our lifeline. The richest among us keep trying. We can notice when our inability to fit somewhere illuminates a problem in the greater structures we are part of rather than ourselves as pieces. Sometimes, we need to adapt and shape ourselves to the evolving structure. Sometimes we need to be the reference point the grander structure needs to correct itself.
