Project Much?
Mankind imagines gods as projections of human emotions, egos, and hang-ups. In trying to define that which is greater than us, it exposes the smallest parts of us. Those who created jealous, spiteful, favoring, warring gods, may have been trying to imagine figures that might help them begin to understand their own parents! I think religion/ mythology is fascinating to study for that alone: the human baseness revealed in attempting to imagine greatness.
