I had issues with a recent Airbnb stay and am having issues with the current one. I've confronted superiors at work in MOST of the many different jobs I have had in my life. It made me start to wonder if maybe I AM THE PROBLEM?? Maybe I'm making excuses for myself, but as I replay different memories of different problems I have encountered, I can confirm that the situations were DEFINITELY wrong. I think we can all agree that A LOT is wrong in our world, and maybe I end up in those situations because I'm one of the minority who refuses to accept when the norms are unacceptable. I am put in those situations to challenge the SNAFUs that surround us one by one. The universe knows that I won't put up and shut up, so it puts me in situations that are messed up, so I'll be forced to try to fix them. I may not succeed, but at least I can cause some discomfort for all the people perpetuating a few of the injustices that continue too easily.
I had a US history teacher who pointed to a big sign he had in his classroom that read, “Life is Unfair” anytime anyone complained about anything. I hated that. It was lazy. We can’t expect anything to get better if we keep shrugging our shoulders at everything that is wrong. We may not be able to do much, but anything in the direction of justice is better than nothing.
