This is Playing with Godness, a newsletter about Agnostic Adventures in Spirituality and Experimental Worship.

I call myself a Gnostic Agnostic which means that I know that I simply can’t possibly know what or who may or may not have created us. I can’t know if there is a higher power, or if we have a purpose. Even if all of existence was randomly created, I must marvel at the magnificence of that randomness! I can't limit my curiosity to creators either: I must consider possible divine destroyers, preservers, healers, nourishers, protectors, muses, and tricksters. I do know that I have received many blessings from somewhere. Too many times I have been too lucky to believe that it was just luck. Someone or something out there might be busting its ass to keep me out of trouble, and the least I could do is acknowledge it!

I like to believe that the unknowing that surrounded every idea of “God” was never actually meant to test one’s faith but to invite one’s curiosity and self-exploration. In contemplating the possible divinities, we can develop our own personal senses of perfection and try to grow toward it throughout our lives.
